Marketing in Coronaland

For most of us the past weeks have turned our lives upside down professionally as well as private. Everyone is affected – on a global scale, which again has created a state of shock for most business and consumers.

We are of course all affected differently and it’s hard to generalize, but we all have a responsibility to keep the world going. Even though this is done from home – with social distancing.

As consumers we can ease the effects by not changing our habits drastically. We need to keep buying if possible. Plan that trip you wanted for the fall, buy gift cards, buy that dress you always wanted. If we all take responsibility and support where we can, it will get us through all of this faster with less financial impact. And again this is said knowing that our situations are all different, and not everyone have the choice that I describe above. But at least some of us do.

Internet giants like Netflix and Google have had to decrease the quality of their services due to the high demand in these days

That being said, the responsibility is not only related to us as consumers. As business owners we also need to act. With almost every challenge comes opportunities. What is yours? If you sell online – have you considered how you can increase your online visibility and sales? Internet giants like Netflix and Google have had to decrease the quality of their services due to the high demand in these days. So the internet wont crash, now that everyone is home and online all the time.

Never has there been such window of opportunity to get your target audience’s attention online, especially through social media. We see many companies focusing their efforts online at the moment with great results. Not only with the purpose of online sales, but also in order to increase their followers, gather more email permissions etc.

This moment in time is also a great chance to build a stronger connection and closer relationship with your target audience. To show what your brand stands for. Not just in terms of your product offering, but what values drives your brand. What is your purpose?

Right now is a unique opportunity to consider what value your brand can offer to potential and existing customers in these challenging times

One of our clients ILLUM have used this opportunity during their lock-down to share stories from some of their local designers on how they handle this current situation. Brands that many of their costumers did not know were actually to be found in ILLUM. A great way of helping the local business community, and at the same time share small stories on how the current situation affects us all -while actually staying true to what ILLUM always do in their marketing communication, namely promoting fashion and the brands offered in the department store.

The Soho House Group are sharing videos with some of their most popular house recipes, so their members can enjoy these from home, now that they can not enjoy them at their local house. They are furthermore turning the membership value during the lock-down into “food and stay” vouchers – a great way to keep members happy and at the same time try to ensure revenue, when we are all on the other side of this at some point.

Right now is a unique opportunity to consider what value your brand can offer to potential and existing customers in these challenging times – weather it’s entertainment, comfort, advice or simply just free shipping, so your customers can shop from the safety of their own home. At @omicph we are offering a free DX snapshot to companies, that wish to use the current “waiting time” to optimize their customer experience, and their communication in the different touch points throughout the customer journey.

We have also just launched our first podcast, discussing how to do marketing under the current “corona conditions”.
